GABLONZ
The history of glass from Bohemia.
In the early 19th century, around 10,000 people were employed in the glass and jewelry industry.
Bohemia's greatest asset was the development of its own technique from the second half of the 18th century for making pendants and jewellery with artificial stones.
Hand-cut, faceted, polished glass 'semi-precious stones' (glass as in this ring) were sent to cities such as Paris and London.
Sadly, WWII took a tragic toll and the skilled craftsman from Gablonz disappeared, gone forever, and the past is almost forgotten!
