Russian Orthodox icon of three saints, with Christ in glory in the upper central part. The inscription is in ecclesiastical Cyrillic, and allows them to be identified quite clearly.
Identification of the figures (from left to right)
1. Left:
St. George the Great Martyr
Saint George the Great Martyr
He wears armor and a red cloak.
Carry the cross of martyrdom.
He is one of the most venerated warrior saints in the Orthodox tradition.
2. Center:
St. Blaise the Hieromartyr
Saint Blaise (Blasio), hieromartyr
Represented as a bishop with an omophorion.
Carry the Gospel, richly adorned.
Saint Blaise is highly venerated in the East as a protector against illnesses, especially throat diseases.
3. Right:
St. Anastasia the Martyr
Saint Anastasia the Martyr (Anastasia Farmacolitria)
Wear a long tunic and mantle.
Carry a rosary or chain, a symbol of his martyrdom and of his compassion for prisoners.
Very popular in the Slavic and Byzantine world.
Upper part
At the top there is Christ blessing, shown in bust-length, as the guarantor of the sanctity of the martyrs depicted.
