Description from the seller
Dolk Lundgren (real name Andreas Hamran Færø, Oslo, 1979) is the most famous Norwegian stencil and graffiti artist, whose works are motivated by pop culture. He is better known by his pseudonym Dolk. The talent and the respect this man commands are best described by his peers from the vandalism school, who elected Dolk as 'most likely to succeed'. Sexual motifs are the usual ingredient of Lundgren’s art, which he deftly places in a humorous and critical context. The artist preferably works in black and white, due to the impact and the speed required to finish a piece. The idea behind his artwork is to convey messages of love, hate and dreams, basically everything he feels at the moment.
Stencil art
Dolk was born in 1979 in Oslo, the capital of Norway, but grew up in Bergen. Before he discovered stencil art, he studied graphic design in Melbourne. It was in 2003 that he first encountered street art, after being inspired by the world’s most famous street artist, Banksy. At the beginning of his career people thought Dolk was actually a pseudonym for the Bristol-based stencil artist, but he quickly proved they were wrong by his own distinctive style. Much thanks is owed to Wooster Collective and Pictures on Walls (POW), who helped introduce his work to a wider audience. Dolk describes his hobbies as sex, sex and vandalism, and continually adding painting, stencils and exploration as his interests. His goal is to travel and be able to live from his art. The reason the artist chose stencil art, instead of graffiti, is because of the raw and dirty look, and because the latter belongs to the underground, it is harder for ordinary people to interpret. Dolk’s stencils speak to a larger audience, where both the elderly and children laugh at his work and understand the message he wants to convey.
