Centerpiece carved on the lathe from flowering apricot burl wood by Riccardo Masini (Italy, 2020), in new condition; dimensions 33.5 cm wide, 33.5 cm deep and 8 cm high.
Description from the seller
Centerpiece turned on a wood lathe from flowering apricot burl.
The object was made from fresh wood, and over time it has deformed naturally, allowing the material to alter its shape. The result is a slightly irregular object, even at the base.
The designation 'flowered wood' indicates that the tree, once felled, was colonized by fungi that altered the wood, making it very crumbly in some parts.
Item sold directly from the artist's studio.
Brief Bio
Riccardo Masini - Born in 1984 - A professional wood sculptor, with a deep relationship with the tree.
Graduated from the 'La Truciolara' school with French master and artist Claude Arragon, then continued his studies with Italian master Giacomo Malaspina and professor and artist Roberto Mannino at the School of Arts and Crafts of Rome.
After an initial investigation into the shape and volume of objects with the collections Forma e Volume, Rovine e Forme Pure, he approached the study of high-altitude plants with the collection Baikà 梅花.
