Period: early 20th century.
Materials: wrought iron, wood, fibres
Provenance: French auction house

This distinctive ceremonial short sword known as Phoogo ya Kusa was primarily produced by the Western Pende, but it has also been found among the Wongo and Lele of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Elsen, De Fer and De Fierté, 2003; Zirngibl & Kubetz, Panga Na Visu, 2009).

The invoice from the French auction house can be provided to the buyer upon request.
