Set of four ceramic wall panels titled “4 Jahreszeiten” by Piotr Baro Knabstrup, Denmark, dating from 1950–1960, in good used condition with minor age-related flaws; each panel is 34 cm high and 30 cm wide, with an overall weight of about 20 kg.
Description from the seller
Piotr Baro was a Polish graphic designer, illustrator and ceramic artist who came to Denmark in 1957 as a political refugee. There he worked, among other things, as a designer for Knabstrup and helped shape, with his expressive, often poetically figurative designs, the Scandinavian studio ceramics of the postwar era. Characteristic of Baro's works are the sketchy linework, stylized faces, and the vibrant, glaze-rich color palette.
The tiles offered here each depict a female figure with individual motifs and color schemes. Colorful series by Baro are clearly rarer than his monochrome works and are therefore particularly sought after by collectors. Production presumably in the late 1950s to early 1960s.
A highly decorative collectible piece of Scandinavian mid-century ceramics, ideal as a wall object or as part of a cohesive display.
The tiles have chips, and on the back there is material from the previous mounting. See photos.
The goods are wrapped in bubble wrap and surrounded by bio-based Styrofoam in a double-walled carton and shipped via DHL. The plates have a total weight of approximately 20 kg. Please note the transport costs to your respective destination country.
