Visionaries: The geniuses of photography
Edited by Michele Smargiassi
Repubblica and National Geographic present an original work, curated by Michele Smargiassi, dedicated to the geniuses who have innovated the world of photography. Valuable volumes gather for each photographer a gallery of the most beautiful images and a selection of the most significant ones with original comments from Repubblica's signatures: from Maurizio Molinari to Roberto Saviano, from Corrado Augias to Gabriele Romagnoli.
This monographic work summarizes the work of the famous Hungarian reporter Robert Capa in all its facets.
Robert Capa (1913–1954) was one of the most famous photojournalists of the twentieth century, known for his ability to tell stories of war and human experience through intense and direct images.
He documented five major conflicts: the Spanish Civil War, the Second Sino-Japanese War, World War II (including the famous photos of the Normandy landing), the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, and the First Indochina War, where he lost his life in 1954. He was also a co-founder, along with Henri Cartier-Bresson and others, of the renowned photographic agency Magnum Photos, a benchmark for independent photojournalism.
