Description from the seller
A devotional sculpture depicting a putto angel, made in polychrome plaster with the original wooden base, datable to the late 19th century and the early decades of the 20th century.
The figure, with a classical taste and traditional setup, features a painted flesh tone, finely modeled wavy hair, and the rear wing (partially preserved), elements that confirm the angelic iconography. The work shows soft, natural modeling of the forms, typical of ecclesiastical production intended for altarpiece installations, niches, or larger sculptural compositions.
The contemporaneous wooden base, integrated with the sculpture, served a structural and anchoring function within the original liturgical context. There are holes and anchorage marks compatible with a stable placement in an ecclesiastical setting.
The polychromy is original to the period, with wear, abrasions, color loss, and structural deficiencies (as shown in the photograph), consistent with the object's age and use. The work has not been recently restored and is offered in its current state of preservation.
An authentic sacred furnishings object, with a strong visual presence, suitable for collectors of religious art, antiques, or for decorative use in settings with a classical character.
