The color is blood red....
All of this makes this ruby a truly exceptional piece.
This large ruby crystal (corundum) comes from Mauritania, (the Tiris Zemmour region) about 100 km from the town of Zouerate.
I found this ruby during research and reconnaissance in the Mauritanian desert.
I am proposing it as I found it; I haven't subjected it to any thermal or chemical treatment, just cleaned it with soapy water.
All the photos are taken in natural daylight.
For some of them, I placed the ruby on the turned-on flashlight of my mobile phone.
In order to show the strong fluorescence response characteristic of corundums (rubies and sapphires) under ultraviolet illumination, I additionally illuminated this ruby with a small lamp that emits ultraviolet light.
I photographed this gem as sincerely and precisely as possible using daylight.
Please note that differences in screen settings and ambient lighting can lead to variations in perceived color, saturation, and tone.
