Description from the seller
This elegant ceramic centerpiece, attributed to the prestigious SICA manufactory (Società Italiana Ceramica Artistica) of Nove di Vicenza, is a refined example of Italian decorative taste from the early twentieth century. The work harmoniously blends the sculptural strength of animal sculpture with the delicacy of floral and baroque-inspired elements.
The piece is dominated by the figure of a rampant horse, molded with a dynamism that captures the essence of nobility and energy. The ceramic is coated with a glossy white glaze, embellished with exquisite details in pure gold that highlight the moving mane, the flowing tail, and the hooves, lending the piece a luxurious and timeless sheen.
Behind the horse, an ample container opens up in the shape of a shell or a stylized acanthus leaf, decorated with volutes and golden beading that recall the neo-Baroque style. The base, broad and enriched with ornamental rocaille scrolls, guarantees stability and aesthetic continuity to the entire composition.
Although the design recalls the sinuous lines of Art Deco and the late Liberty Style of the 1920s, the SICA manufactory is famous above all for having perfected this style in the following decades, making pieces like this true icons of Veneto craftsmanship. This centerpiece is not only a functional object but a display sculpture capable of drawing attention in any classic or vintage-modern setting, testifying to the excellence of Nove's ceramic tradition.
