The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) originate from a nomadic ethnic group from the region of Belutschistan, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live off agriculture, carpet production, as well as sheep, goat, and camel herding. Traditionally, the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes' own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are usually smaller because of the high transportation needs, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch carpets are relatively thin but quite densely woven, making them soft and flexible—perfect for everyday use and active environments. Even today, these carpets offer an excellent value for money and outstanding durability.
