The Baluch carpets (also Belouch) come from a nomadic people of the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, rug production, as well as sheep, goat, and camel husbandry. Traditionally, the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are usually smaller because of the high transport needs, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch carpets are relatively thin, yet quite densely woven, making them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and active wear. Even today, these carpets still offer excellent value for money as well as outstanding durability.
