AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: % Wool
Warp & Weft: 100% Cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot count: approx. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) come from a nomadic people of the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production, as well as sheep-, goat-, and camel-herding. Traditionally the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are generally smaller because of the high transport needs, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow or orange tones. Baluch carpets are relatively thin, but rather densely woven, making them soft and flexible. Perfect for everyday use and a lot of movement. Even today these carpets still offer an excellent price-performance ratio as well as superb durability.
