AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: 100% wool
Warp & weft: 100% cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot count: approx. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) originate from a nomadic ethnic group from the region of Beluchistan, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production, as well as sheep, goat and camel husbandry. Traditionally the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair by the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are typically smaller because of the high transport requirements, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with vivid patterns in white, ivory, yellow or orange tones. Baluch carpets are comparatively thin, but rather densely woven, making them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and high traffic. Even today these carpets still offer excellent value for money as well as outstanding durability.
