Description from the seller

Pile: % Wool
Weft & Warp: 100% cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot count: approx. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch rugs (also Belutsch) come from a nomadic people from the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live off agriculture, rug production, and the breeding of sheep, goats, and camels. Traditionally, the carpets are made from sheep’s wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the rugs are usually smaller because of the high transport needs, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. Classic dark red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch rugs are comparatively thin, yet quite densely woven, making them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and high traffic. Even today these carpets still offer excellent value for money as well as outstanding durability.
