AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: 100% wool
Weft & warp: 100% cotton
Quality: hand-knotted
Knot count: approx. 160,000 / m²
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) originate from a nomadic ethnic group from the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production, as well as sheep, goat and camel husbandry. Traditionally the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair by the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are typically smaller due to the high transport requirement, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow or orange tones. Baluch carpets are relatively thin, but rather densely woven, which makes them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and frequent movement. Even today these carpets still offer an excellent price-performance ratio as well as outstanding durability.
