Description from the seller
"Nobuyoshi Araki (born May 25, 1940) is a Japanese photographer and contemporary artist from Taito Ward, Tokyo. After graduating from Chiba University with a degree in photographic engineering, he joined Dentsu as a commercial photographer. In 1964, he won the first Taiyo Award for his photobook ""Satchin."" He left Dentsu in 1972 to become a freelancer and participated in the founding of the ""WORKSHOP School of Photography"" in 1974.
He has published over 400 photobooks, including private editions, covering diverse themes such as portraiture, urban scenes, and still life. His 1990 work “Sentimental Journey / Winter Journey,” featuring images of his late wife Yoko, received significant attention. In 2008, he was awarded the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art, followed by the Ango Prize in 2011. In 2013, he lost sight in his right eye but released a new series “Love on the Left Eye” the following year.
He also engages in multimedia performance, having launched the ""Arakinema"" series in 1986, combining projected slides and live music. In 2013, a train wrapped with his artwork, known as the ""Arāki Train,"" ran during the Setouchi Triennale in collaboration with JR Shikoku.
Noticeable damage from age and use (such as scuffs, bent corners, or small tears) is present, but the item is complete and usable.
