Description from the seller
Here is the first edition of the French-language version of this magnificent book devoted to Marilyn Monroe.
Has been out of stock for a long time and is very rare in this excellent condition.
Norman Mailer’s writings, photographs by Bert Stern - Hardcover with transparent dust jacket - 2012 - Taschen - 33.5 cm x 28 cm - 276 pages -
The book is in excellent condition, near-new (see the attached photos).
This book, conceived by Lawrence Schiller, a collaborator of Mailer on five works, blends the writer’s masterful text with the striking images of Marilyn at age 36 photographed by Bert Stern (The Last Sitting).
Photographed for Vogue for three days at the Bel-Air Hotel, Marilyn had never been so approachable, nor so incredibly beautiful. Six weeks later, mysteriously, she was dead. In this bold synthesis of a classic work of literature and a legendary portrait session, Mailer and Stern lift the veil of confusion surrounding Monroe—the woman, the star, the sex symbol—and closely observe an iconic figure whose true personality remains elusive and enigmatic to this day.
Originally published in a limited collector's edition, this book is available in a mass-market edition, published by Taschen to mark the 50th anniversary of Bert Stern's The Last Sitting and Marilyn Monroe's death, on August 5, 1962.
The book will be carefully packaged and shipped with insurance and tracking.
