Michael Andrew Ochs (February 27, 1943 - July 23, 2025) was an American photographic archivist best known for his extensive collection of rock music photos from the 1950s and 1960s. The Michael Ochs Archives, located in Venice, California, contained 3 million vintage prints, proofs, and negatives that were frequently authorized for use in CD reissues, books, films, and documentaries.
The Los Angeles Times described Ochs as the 'chief archivist of rock'n'roll photos in America' and called his archives 'the dominant force in the rock image market.' The New York Times referred to him as the 'world's leading source of musician photographs.' Ochs sold his archives to Getty Images in 2007.
