Description from the seller
Revealing Bianca, a 21-year-old model and student of German literature, this collection of images was inspired by her strong desire to work with the photographer. This photographic narrative grew out of their intensive teamwork over several months, resulting in wild and joyful photos taken indoors and outdoors in Mallorca (Majorca), Berlin, and elsewhere, capturing Bianca in the street, in bed, alone and with other models.
Thomas Karsten was born in Eisenach, Thuringia, in 1985. The East German regime prevented him from receiving a university education, but he found his first mentor in photography in the early 1980s—the photographer and university professor Evelyn Richter.
In 1982, Karsten left the GDR for the West. He pursued his career as a freelance photographer and assistant to Stefan Moses in Munich. He has been working freelance since 1983 and made a name for himself with portraits and nudes. His work has appeared in Stern, Art, Eltern, Nerve (New York) and Capital. His first book, Thomas - mach ein Bild von uns, was published by CJ Bucher and received the prestigious Kodak Photo Book Prize in 1988. Many of his 17 books published since are considered icons of nude and portrait photography. His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, both at home and abroad.
