Description from the seller
Style and Era
Based on the forms, the most likely is that it is a piece in Late Victorian or Early Edwardian style (late 19th or early 20th century, approx. 1890–1910).
However, due to the flawless and shiny finish, there is also the possibility that it is a high-quality mid-20th-century reproduction (1950s–1960s) that faithfully imitates the old designs.
2. Design Characteristics
Influence of Art Nouveau: the openwork carvings on the sides and the top (the crest) have those organic, sinuous curves typical of the Art Nouveau movement.
• Turned Columns: The vertical supports mimic bamboo or feature turned-ring details, a device very common in period auxiliary furniture to impart visual lightness.
• Wood: From the grain visible on the shelves (that effect of "stains" or knots), it seems to be walnut veneer or walnut rootwood, which is highly valued for its aesthetic beauty.
