Wooden butler’s tray table in the Art Deco style, dating to the 1950s in France, with a foldable stand and a removable rectangular tray, dimensions 58 cm wide by 66 cm high by 40 cm deep, in nearly new condition.
Description from the seller
Classic-style butler's tray table.
This is a foldable side table, commonly referred to in the collecting world as a "butler table" or a "service tray". The piece features a support frame with scissor legs (or X-shaped) that fold to facilitate storage, on which rests a separate and removable rectangular tray.
Materials and Finish: The table is entirely made of wood, probably mahogany or a similar type with a warm stain, which is characteristic of English butler tables from the 18th and 19th centuries. The tray features a central inset panel, in a dark tone—possibly lacquered in black or bottle-green—contrasting elegantly with the natural wood of the edge.
Decoration: The central panel is adorned with floral motifs or a central bouquet, rendered in gold, which adds a touch of refinement and suggests an influence of Empire or Regency style.
Design: The design is highly functional, allowing the tray to be used as an independent serving element. The cut-out handles at the ends of the tray are a distinctive feature of this type of furniture, facilitating its transport and handling.
Your status is acceptable for viewing photos.
Its style and construction likely classify it as a mid-20th-century vintage piece that emulates antique designs.
