Daum France blown glass three-leaf clover form pocket tray or ashtray with 24 carat gold inclusions, signed Daum Croix de Lorraine Nancy, dating from the first half of the 20th century, height 3.5 cm, diameter 10.5 cm, weight 426 g, in good condition with minor wear.
Description from the seller
Magnificent small catchall or ashtray in the shape of a three-leaf clover, made of multilayer blown glass with a marbled effect and inlays of large 24-carat gold leaves in the interlayer. It is wheel-signed underneath “Daum Croix de Lorraine Nancy.”
Estimated period: first half of the 20th century.
Very good condition
Carefully examine all the photos that are an integral part of the description. Small signs of wear in the background and at the intersections of the leaves. Pontil mark on the underside.
A superb swatch of pink and purple, almost black. A nice effect when light passes through it.
The Daum brothers’ French Art glassware is renowned worldwide, on par with the Art glassware of the Schneider family, the Muller brothers in Lunéville, Legras, Gallé, d'Argental, De Vez, Delatte; all belonging to the Nancy School in Lorraine, in eastern France.
It's a beautiful piece to own in a collection and/or simply to admire as decoration.
