Description from the seller
Original Philippe Starck bakelite Radio Moa Moa (limited edition)
A very fine radio with an exceptional design; a relatively rare find, almost impossible to come by in this good condition! Philippe Starck designed this model for Telefunken. An identical specimen is part of the Groninger Museum's collection.
Limited edition of 8,000 copies: No. 2,093.
AM/FM tuner with three preset stations and digital frequency display. Good reception!
The designer
Many of Philippe Starck's designs reveal his humor and playfulness, and initially present themselves differently than they actually are. Take now this glossy dark red, egg-shaped Bakelite object with a wire. At first glance it looks like a mouse or a very stylized head (à la Brancusi). The speaker gives a hint. Only when you turn the object around does the function become truly clear: 'Moa Moa' is a portable radio, with hidden knobs on the bottom for volume and for tuning the station. The wire is the antenna. Starck consistently gives everyday products their own personality, both in form and name.
No one spoke to us anymore; the sound came from nowhere, completely abstract. At last the great Moa Moa arrived. Thank you. The earth trembles, the queen marries: here is the great Moa Moa, speaking to you. The tango rolls, the skirt flaps: here sings the great Moa Moa. The actor laughs, the tragedienne sighs: the great Moa Moa makes the emotions vibrate. The great Moa Moa is your friend.
- Philippe Starck -
Overall, in very good, ready-to-use condition. There are virtually no signs of wear, no cracks, fractures, or other defects! Only the wire antenna shows some inevitable discoloration from aging. The photos show a true representation of the actual condition.
Four new E14 batteries included.
