Fossil fish Brychaetus muelleri specimen from Morocco, Paleogene–Paleocene period (about 66–56 million years ago), natural condition, in its matrix, 30 cm high and 35 cm wide.
Description from the seller
Fossil fish Brychaetus muelleri – Paleocene–Eocene (50–60 Ma)
Discover a remarkable piece of natural history: an authentic fossil fish attributed to the species Brychaetus muelleri, a marine bony fish that lived in the warm, shallow seas of the Paleocene–Eocene, about 50 to 60 million years ago.
This specimen comes from the famous phosphatic deposits of Morocco, worldwide renowned for the richness and diversity of their marine fossil fauna. Brychaetus muelleri is distinguished by an elongated, fusiform body, as well as by an elongated and robust rostrum, features suggesting a predatory lifestyle, probably adapted to capturing fish and fast marine organisms.
State of conservation
Very good overall condition. The fossil is clearly legible in its original matrix, with a clearly identifiable silhouette. The bone structure is visible and presents a uniform natural patina, typical of fossils from Moroccan phosphatic deposits. The nodular presentation enhances the visual impact and the aesthetic appeal of the piece.
Features
• Fossil preserved on its original rock
Natural conservation, with no restoration or visible reconstruction.
• Beautiful piece that is both decorative and educational
Origin: Moroccan phosphate basin
Period: Paleocene–Eocene (approx. 50–60 million years ago)
Species: Brychaetus muelleri (identification based on general morphology and geological context)
This fossil fish is an authentic collectible piece, ideal for paleontology enthusiasts, marine fossil collectors, or as an elegant and timeless scientific decoration.
Secure and fast shipping with a tracking number. The specimen will be carefully packaged to ensure its integrity during transport.
