Malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques, and the wine is then aged in 600-liter medium-toasted French oak barrels, 50% new and 50% used, for 24 months. After aging, the wine is transferred to steel tanks where it remains for 3 months before bottling. This Piedmontese red can age in bottle for over 20 years.
