Description from the seller
This rug can be identified as a Chobi (also known as Ziegler or Peshawar), a relatively modern production originating in Pakistan and Afghanistan for the Western market, inspired by ancient Persian carpets but reinterpreted in a contemporary style.
It features an all-over design with stylized floral and vine motifs, without a central medallion. Its distinctive feature is the palette of soft, natural colors: the field in beige/ivory/gray-green is combined with motifs in brick red, ochre, and powder blue, achieved with vegetable dyes that create a deliberately 'antiqued' effect (abrash). The main border in brick red provides a contrasting finish, completing the elegant and sober design, ideal for modern furnishings.
With generous dimensions (302x241 cm, approximately 7.3 square meters), its value is influenced by:
Material quality: Use of hand-spun wool and vegetable dyes (not synthetic).
Condition: Well preserved in an appropriate place.
Manufacturing: The density of the nodes is good and regular, typical of this production.
The characteristics described above place it in the mid-range for this style, considering the good craftsmanship, quality materials, and notable dimensions. A versatile and refined design piece.
