Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Lot of 12 crystal items from Belgium dating to circa 1910–1920, comprising one elongated cornette-shaped vase (20.5 cm high, foot diameter 5.5 cm, neck diameter 4.5 cm, 450 g) and eleven hand-cut diamond-cut knife rests (each about 9 cm long, 2 cm wide, ~50 g, total 550 g); the vase is unmarked but stylistically typical of Val Saint Lambert, while the knife rests feature dense diamond facets, with the total package weighing 1.0 kg and overall condition described as good to very good, with two knife rests having tiny chips at the angles.
Description from the seller
Lot of 11 cut crystal knife rests and 1 small cornette vase, attributed to Val Saint Lambert, early 20th century (approximately 1900-1920, late Art Nouveau or transitional Art Deco style).
Vase features:
- Height: 20.5 cm
- Foot diameter: 5.5 cm
- Neck diameter: 4.5 cm
- Weight: 450 g
- Shape: a slender, slightly flared cone with a scalloped neck, cut with diamond/lozenge deep motifs along the full height (dense and regular diamond-cut pattern), a faceted round base. High-quality clear crystal, bright and heavy for its size. Unmarked visible, but style and size typical of Val Saint Lambert decorative small vases from this period.
Features of the knife holders (11 pieces):
- Dimensions per piece: length 9 cm, width 2 cm (rectangular or slightly convex).
- Approximate unit weight: 50 g (total knife holder: 550 g).
- Technique: hand-cut crystal in diamond motifs / crisscross facets across the entire surface (dense diamond cut, sparkling multi-faceted effect). Classic rectangular shape to rest knives, polished edges.
- Condition: good to very good overall – two pieces show small chips (tiny losses or impacts at the corners, without affecting the structure); the other 9 are flawless, with no chipping, cracks, or deep scratches. Shine and transparency intact across the entire set.
Total weight of the lot: 450 g (vase) + 550 g (11 knife holders) = 1000 g
Unsigned pieces but very likely Val Saint Lambert (crystal quality, classic diamond-cut motif of Belgian productions from the early 20th century, often sold in sets for the table). A rare and coherent ensemble, ideal for collectors of vintage Belgian crystal, Art Nouveau/Art Deco table accessories, or aficionados of precise diamond-cut sizes. The dense faceted pattern is emblematic of tableware and small decorative objects from the glassworks of that era.
Careful shipment.
