Description from the seller
Vintage Coin-Operated Marble / Gumball Dispenser – Glass Globe – 1960s–1970s
Expert description
Elegant vintage coin-operated mechanical dispenser for balls or chewing gum, dating from the 1960s–1970s, a period of great experimentation in industrial design and in mid-century/space-age aesthetics.
The specimen is equipped with an original upper glass dome, a hallmark of superior quality compared to versions with a plastic dome. The transparency of the glass highlights the internal structure of the mechanism, making the item particularly decorative even when at rest. The marbles are for display only and are not included.
The body is made of turquoise-painted metal, with robust and well-proportioned lines. The front part features a metal hatch decorated in relief, with ornamental motifs in a Liberty-style, complete with an original and functioning coin mechanism, operated by a knob.
At the bottom there is the transparent dome for ball discharge, integral and original, an element often missing or replaced in similar specimens. This allows the viewing of the ball’s exit, contributing both to the functionality and to the object's aesthetic appeal.
The distributor holds strong collectible value and is today highly sought after as a piece of modern design collectibles and vintage furnishings, ideal for display windows, shops, professional offices, retro environments, or specialized collections.
