AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Late 19th Century Solid Oak Rocking Chair – Victorian / Edwardian Period, Turned Spindles

Description:
A charming and well-crafted early 20th century solid oak rocking chair, dating to the Victorian–Edwardian period (circa 1920).

The chair features a robust oak frame with elegant turned spindles, gently curved rockers, and a refined, balanced silhouette typical of quality Northern European craftsmanship of the era.
The seat, backrest and armrests have been reupholstered at a later date in a tasteful striped fabric that complements the warm tone of the oak and remains in good condition. The upholstery is neatly finished with decorative brass-coloured upholstery nails.

The wood shows a beautiful, authentic patina consistent with age, with no structural damage. The rocking mechanism is stable and smooth. A small number of upholstery nails may require minor attention, purely cosmetic and not affecting the use or integrity of the chair.
An attractive and comfortable antique rocking chair, suitable for a classic interior, country house, library or reading corner.

Condition:
Solid oak frame, structurally sound
Original rockers, smooth movement
Later upholstery in good condition
Minor cosmetic wear consistent with age
Small number of missing or loose upholstery nails (minor)

Period
Early 20th century – circa 1920

Material: Solid oak

Origin:
Northern Europe (possibly England)
