AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

AMPHORA – Manufacture Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel (RStK)

Bohemia (Teplitz), Austro-Hungarian Empire
Around 1900–1915 – Jugendstil / Art Nouveau

EDDA model vase with a decoration of grape clusters.

Exceptional polychrome artistic ceramic vase, from the prestigious Amphora manufactory, made in the early 20th century, in the purest Jugendstil spirit.

This model belongs to the “EDDA” series, identifiable by its triangular recessed mark on the back, incorporating a pre-Nazi swastika – a traditional symbol of prosperity and fertility – as well as the inscription EDDA, a direct reference to Norse mythology, frequently invoked in the symbolist and naturalist aesthetics of the time.

The vase features a high-relief sculpted decoration depicting sumptuous grape clusters with generous volumes, glazed in deep blue-violet tones, accompanied by finely modeled leaves in celadon green and pink-brown hues.
The piece stands out against an ivory background with a deliberately crackled glaze, an emblematic signature of Amphora’s high-quality productions.

The architectural shape of the collar, evoking stylized drips, emphasizes the piece's organic and symbolic dimension, giving the whole a remarkable sculptural presence.

The reverse side also bears the form and model numbers (050 / 60), in keeping with the manufacturer's conventions for identifying molds and variations.
