Description from the seller

Wall-mounted faience bouquet holder – Saint-Clément (Lorraine), c. 1845–1860

Beautiful antique polychrome earthenware wall bouquet holder, attributed with certainty to the Saint-Clément Manufacture (Lorraine), dating from the mid-19th century.

The piece features an elegant curvilinear form with a diameter of 24.5 cm, hand-decorated with a rich pastoral motif: roosters, waterfowl, insects and floral scrolls, in a palette typical of ochre yellow, olive green, and manganese.

The rectangular reservoir on the back, originally designed for wall use, is well preserved. The hanging/ mounting is old and functional.

On the back, a handwritten mark 'St Clément' accompanied by the decorator's initials, a common practice at the manufactory at that time.
