AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Oval mirror in carved and gilded wood, accompanied by a coordinated wall shelf/console, dating to the early 20th century or probably the French Napoleon III period. Baroque/Rococo style: the frame and the shelf feature elaborate carvings with volutes, leaves and shells, typical of Baroque or Rococo styles. Gilded finish: both pieces are finished in gold leaf, showing signs of wear, loss of gold, and patina due to time. The mirror is contemporaneous with the shelf. Dimensions are: mirror height 85 x 60 x 12.5 cm and the shelf height 32 x 58.7 x 15 cm. Note a repetition of these ornaments, applied on the flute of the frame, for each of its edges. At the bottom of this authentic piece, we find, in relief, a central surround composed of leaves and volutes. The mercury mirror shows some speckling due to the passage of time. The shelf formerly had a marble top, now missing.
