Handcrafted Peruvian Cajamarca mirror with an irregular crystal frame painted on the back, hand-painted, dating to 1960–1970; external 65 × 60 cm, inner mirror 29 × 24 cm, depth 3 cm, in good used condition with signs of age.
Description from the seller
A striking Peruvian handcrafted mirror in Cajamarquino style, originating from Cajamarca Province (Peru), with a glass frame painted on the back of the glass (painted backwards) and hand-painted.
This piece combines artisanal tradition, decorative richness, and a strong visual presence, making it an exceptional object for both collectors of Latin American art and lovers of ethnic and Baroque decor.
The mirror features an irregular, organic-shaped frame decorated with florally and vegetally multicolored motifs with a predominance of dark tones and gilded details. The surface is worked in an ornate and expressive language, characteristic of Peruvian decorative objects inspired by colonial Baroque aesthetics reinterpreted by local tradition. The design evokes an exotic yet Baroque style, typical of the artisanal workshops of Cajamarca, known for producing mirrors with a strong theatrical impact and a distinctive artistic finish.
More than a simple functional mirror, this piece is designed as an object of great decorative value, ideal as a focal point in living rooms and entryways.
