Description from the seller

This bird is characterized by a long beak at the end of which it holds a medicine. It has its wings spread and a long cylindrical handle to grip it. It was used by striking with the beak against a metal cylinder. Originally, it was used in the 16th century during the reign of Oba Esigie to celebrate his battle against the Igala. Since then it has continued to be used to commemorate his victory. This specimen probably dates from the late 19th century or the early 20th century.
