Solid walnut coffee table, antique Neoclassical style, estimated period 1940–1950, 192 cm wide, 108 cm deep, 80 cm high, in good used condition with minor age-related marks.
Description from the seller
Majestic center table (or library table) made entirely of solid walnut, dating from the late 19th to the early 20th century. The piece represents an excellent example of cabinetmaking inspired by the Neorenaissance style, with a solid architectural structure and harmonious proportions.
The rectangular top, characterized by a generous thickness and elegantly molded edges, sits atop a subtop band that houses three concealed drawers on the front. The fronts of the drawers are enriched by meticulous beadwork carved into the wood and retain the original brass escutcheons with a central lock.
Decorative Elements and Base
The table rests on a 'fratina' base with a strong visual impact.
The Supports: Two imposing uprights sculpted in the shape of an urn or vase, adorned with claw-like carvings and scrolls, ending in high-relief lion-paw feet.
La Traversa: The two supports are joined by a central, shaped crosspiece, which at its center features a carved crest with a floral rosette and acanthus leaf motifs.
Condition
The table is in excellent condition. The structure is perfectly stable, and the walnut wood presents a warm, luminous patina. There are slight and natural signs of age that confer authenticity to the piece, without compromising its aesthetics or functionality.
