Original Megatech portable black and white television from the late 1980s to early 1990s, featuring a distinctive robot head–inspired design that reflects the retro-futuristic aesthetic of the period. The compact cubic body with softly rounded edges, a curved transparent front window, and a telescopic antenna gives the television the appearance of a stylised robot head. The silver satin plastic housing, with integrated carry handle and front speaker grille, makes this piece both a functional electronic device and an eye-catching decorative design object, representative of late twentieth-century portable electronics. Major electronic components made in Japan, as stated on the original manufacturer label.
The television is in vintage condition, with no cracks or breaks and no structural damage, showing surface marks and signs of use consistent with age and normal wear. The unit has been carefully cleaned and tested and is fully working at the time of listing, including the black and white TV function, FM radio, and volume control, which increases and decreases smoothly. Sound quality is very good for a compact portable television, clear and well balanced for its size.
The television operates on batteries and also via a DC 12V power cable, allowing both portable and stationary use. Its original mains power cable with plug is included, as shown in the photographs. The television can be used as an external display for modern devices by mirroring the screen through its analog video input when using the correct HDMI to RCA composite converter with PAL output together with the appropriate digital adapter for the source device. iPad or other devices shown are not included, and cables, adapters, and converters are not included.
