Description from the seller
Indonesian seating group – Hand-carved – Teak wood – 4 chairs & table – 20th century.
⸻
Description:
For sale is an exceptional, entirely hand-carved seating group made from solid teak. The set consists of four armchairs and a rectangular coffee table, crafted in traditional Balinese–Javanese craftsmanship.
The furniture pieces display finely worked relief depictions on backrests, side surfaces and tabletop: including elephants, dance and temple scenes, floral motifs and animals. These richly decorated carvings are typical of Southeast Asian style with colonial influence – a combination of functional European furniture making and traditional Asian iconography.
The teak has a warm, golden-brown aura with beautiful patina. All pieces are very solid, stable and intricately finished.
