Solid wood inlaid with gold leaf, with rear hook, hand-polished mirror glass
This antique and large dressing mirror from the late 19th and early 20th century.
A type of mirror glass that is ground and hand-finished, used in architecture and interior and exterior design.
Ideal for imparting a superior level of elegance to the artifact.
On the wooden frame, already carved, a mixture of plaster (calcium carbonate), adhesive plant resins, honey, linseed oil, and marble powder was applied (a pastiglia technique that originated in Italy at the end of the 1400s). Then, Armenian bolo (red clay powder pigment mixed with glue) was applied. Once dried, it was covered with the application of very thin gold leaves (gold leafing). Crafted by hand in France between 1800 and 1830, and later in Europe.
Dimensions:
Height: 100 cm
Length: 77 cm
Depth: 10 cm
"Short story" :
When the French burst into Milan, at the end of the 18th century under Napoleon's leadership, a change in architectural styles was inevitable. Architecture had to be a mirror of the political and cultural change, but above all it had to be conceived to celebrate Napoleon's power.
The area that was involved the most, more than any other, is that of
Castello Sforzesco and the Arch of Peace.
The Civic Arena that we see today is part of these changes; in particular the Palazzina Appiani, which was built by Napoleon's own orders for his public appearances. From the top of the neoclassical small building, Napoleon could admire the games in the arena and, in particular, the naval battles that took place by flooding the field with water from the Navigli.
In good condition, it is a very special piece that evokes moments of elegance and happiness.
Given the elegance, refinement and fragility of the lot, it will be packed and boxed in minute detail (bubble wrap, polystyrene sheets, reinforced cardboard and box in
Wood).
The shipment with Express Courier/Standard with Tracking Code and
Insurance.
