Description from the seller
This magnificent piece combines the understated elegance of classic Spanish design with the sophistication of high-quality silver plating, making it a striking centerpiece for any table or display case.
-Origin: Spain.
-Style: Neoclassical with Art Deco influences. The geometric structure of radiating lines (fluting) is characteristic of the early 20th century.
-Period: c. 1900-1940
-Designer: Cortasa (renowned Spanish firm of luxury silversmithing).
-Material: Silver-plated alpaca (German silver or Maillechort in France = a highly resistant white metal coated with a generous layer of silver).
-Technique: Casting, embossing, repoussé, mirror polishing.
-Ornamentation: It features a fluted or grooved body that radiates from the center to the lobed edges. The lid's distinctive knob features an organic design in the shape of two acorns, a symbol of strength and antiquity. Four cabriole-style legs with floral details and scrolls elevate the piece with elegance.
- Hallmark: Marked on the rim of the bowl with the "CORTASA ALPACA" punch, guaranteeing its authenticity and the quality of its craftsmanship.
- Measurements:
* Total length: 30.6 cm
* Total width: 24.2 cm
* Total height (with lid): Approx. 16 cm
* Bowl height: 7 cm
* Lid: 27.5 cm x 21 cm
- Condition: Excellent condition. The silver plating maintains an intense and uniform shine (mirror finish). There are no significant dents or obvious losses of silvering, showing only the natural patina and slight signs of use consistent with its age, which attest to its original character.
- Use: A versatile, high-end decorative piece. It can be used as a decorative centerpiece, a serving dish for hot food (thanks to its temperature-retaining lid) or as a display item on a sideboard.
