Description from the seller
Art Deco cookie tin (or bonbonnière) in olive-green ceramic with a bombé lid.
This cookie tin was made in Germany in the 1920s–1930s by Bayerische Metallwarenfabrik in Nuremberg. The mark BMF-N in an inverted triangle with 'Germany' above it is located on the bottom of the tin.
The Bavarian Metalware Factory, founded in 1902 by Hans Wagner and Willy Gundel, was one of the leading manufacturers in Germany of luxurious household articles. During WWII the company, which had shifted to weapon production, was heavily bombed by the Allies. After the war, with the help of the Americans, household articles were quickly produced again. Under pressure from cheap East Asian imports, the company ultimately went bankrupt in 1998.
The drum has metal hinges and the lid is edged with a metal ring. The closing latch is missing. The cookie tin is in good condition (no cracks or chips), the metal parts show age-related wear but the hinges still work perfectly.
Taking photos is an integral part of the description.
Dimensions: H 11 cm W 21 cm D 15 cm
The cookie tin is packed with great care and shipped with track & trace.
