Batch 1 2017 Bourbon

Duvel Barrel Aged is a unique tasting beer that was developed by letting the classic Duvel mature on oak bourbon barrels. These barrels come from renowned American distilleries such as Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, Woodford Reserve, Four Roses, George Dickel and Jack Daniel's. Four years ago, the first batch was launched. Fewer than 25,000 bottles were launched, but it turned out to be a commercial success, so the Duvel Barrel Aged has been launched annually around the end-of-year celebrations ever since. In the meantime, we are already on batch 4. We therefore thought it was high time to taste all the batches. We start with batch 1 which was composed of 104 oak barrels and yielded just under 25,000 bottles.

Anyone who hopes to find something of his familiar Duvel on the nose with his bittersweet, hoppy character, is worth it. But in return, he does get a smooth, soft and sweet-scented luxurious beer in his glass. Orange, vanilla and a lot of caramel. Very accessible.

It is nice and fresh, but also offers a creamy mouthfeel. I get something of oranges, vanilla and now also a nice bitter touch that reminds me that this is indeed Duvel.

This beer has an aftertaste! And another very long and tasty one too. It even leaves your mouth a little warm from the spiciness. Very pleasant.

Nice tasting beer that whiskey lovers may love. I'm not sure if the real Duvel lover is also up for this. But this is delicious anyway.

Batch 3 2018 Bourbon with glass

Duvel Barrel Aged Batch No.3 Bourbon is a Strong Blond that has matured on oak bourbon barrels. The beer has a smoky taste with notes of vanilla, bourbon and caramel.

Batch 4 2019 Bourbon with glass

Duvel Barrel Aged Batch No. 4 Bourbon is a unique tasting beer that has matured for 9 months in oak barrels. A complex strong blond beer with notes of toffee, caramel and bourbon.

Batch 5 2020 Rum with glass

Duvel Barrel Aged Batch 5 The Rum Edition is available to a limited extent. 71,280 bottles have been filled. For this special edition, the classic Duvel was allowed to mature in barrels from The West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados. This gives a taste sensation, you won't forget it easily!

Batch 6 2021 Jamaican Edition with glass

Duvel Barrel Aged Nr.6 Jamaican Rum Edition is a Special. A beer matured on Jamaican rum vats. After pouring, the authentic taste of Duvel emerges, followed by a surprising Jamaican twist and sweet powerful rum notes of vanilla, dried fruit and oaks. A beer that goes well with strong cheeses, game dishes, grilled meat dishes, chocolate and sushi.

Batch 8 2023 Brasil Rhum with glass

Since 2017, our master brewers and stokers are pulling out all the stops once a year to brew an ultimate version of Duvel. Instead of a re-fermentation in the bottle, our iconic Duvel is then filled and matured on wooden barrels, in which once tasteful spirits have matured.

This year Duvel Moortgat draws her inspiration across the ocean, with cachaça from Brazil. Because it, like rum, starts from sugar cane, you can consider cachaça as a type of rum.

No less than 446 selected oak cachaça barrels were transferred to the cellars. In this, the brewers tapped Duvel, in exciting anticipation of the precise taste development.

After 8 months of intensive maturation, master stocker Cédric Heymans tasted pure magic in the unique, natural fusion of both flavor profiles.
