Louis XVI style carved and gilded wooden chandelier from France, dating to 1750–1800, with a baluster form, square base and dimensions 45 cm high by 15 cm in diameter, in good condition with age related wear and stains.
Description from the seller
Carved and gilded wooden chandelier, in a baluster shape, resting on a wavy quadrangular base. The base is decorated with curled volutes, medallions, and embossed leafy motifs. The shaft features an alternating pattern of rings, gadroons, and finely carved acanthus leaves, characteristic of the ornamental decor of the second half of the 18th century. The upper bobèche, wide and moulded, is also decorated with gadroons.
Beautiful original gilding with original gold leaf. Beautiful patina.
French work from the Louis XVI period.
