Description from the seller

19th Century Siena Marble Inkwell

Magnificent 19th century inkwell crafted in Italian Siena marble, a piece of remarkable decorative charm and collector interest.

The piece is composed of three richly worked elements: a robust base with carved geometric decoration, a central body in light marble, and two turned black marble reservoirs originally intended for ink and pounce. The chromatic contrast between the sienese marble and the darker elements gives the object elegance and presence.

It displays a natural age patina and small signs of use consistent with its age, without affecting the structural integrity — features that reinforce the authenticity and historical character of the object.
An excellent example of a 19th-century desk accessory, ideal for collectors, classical décor, libraries, or historically inspired interiors.
