Pair of antique wall mirrors with a shield-shaped frame, carved wood and glass, Italian origin, dating to circa 1890–1910; each mirror measures about 40×30 cm, in good used condition with minor signs of age, one with restored join, ready to hang.
Description from the seller
Pair of antique wall mirrors, characterized by an elegant shield-shaped silhouette and a carved wooden frame with soft scrolls and curvilinear fittings, decorative elements inspired by Baroque and Rococo taste (Louis XV).
The mirrors are attributed to a European production dating from the late 19th to the early 20th century (c. 1880–1910), a period in which this type of frame was revived to decorate bourgeois interiors with references to the 18th‑century style.
The mirrored surface shows slight signs of wear that are consistent with its age, which add to the charm and authenticity of the piece.
The frames display a beautiful warm patina of the wood, with signs of wear and small imperfections consistent with use and the passage of the years.
One of the two mirrors has undergone a consolidation/restoration intervention at a junction point of the frame. The intervention has restored structural stability and does not compromise the overall aesthetics, as visible in the close-up photographs.
The mirrors are now structurally solid, ready to be hung and used both as functional elements and as decorative objects with great character.
Ideal when placed in pairs in an entryway, above a console, in a bedroom or in a living room, they naturally fit into classic, eclectic, boho, or shabby chic environments, creating a refined dialogue between history and contemporary furnishings.
Dimensions (each)
Height: approximately 40 cm
• Maximum width: about 30 cm
