A fine Koummya dagger. These traditional daggers were primarily worn by Berber peoples of North Africa and the Moroccan Goumiers, indigenous Moroccan soldiers who served in the French Army in Africa between 1908 and 1956.
The dagger features a curved steel blade with a distinctive shape and a dark wooden handle. The sheath and the upper surface of the blade are inlaid with beautifully handcrafted Moroccan silver and brass. The sheath has a belt ring on both sides.
The dagger and sheath are together 41 cm long. The sheath is 25 cm long and the dagger 36 cm. The blade is 20 cm long. The total weight is about 300 grams.
The dagger is in good to very good condition, especially considering its age. Please view the photos for a good impression.
