Description from the seller
Daniël Devadder presents Grace, a unique sculptural object that sits at the intersection of functional design and collectible art.
Grace was a way of translating feelings and emotions that cannot be described with a single word, inspired by nature with its complexity hidden behind elegant and impeccable forms.
This, together with the conviction that form doesn’t always have to follow function, but should follow emotion instead. They merge with each other. You can see this strongly reflected in dance, ballet, and tango; the translation of emotions and feelings by transcending yourself in a form or movement.
Grace is recognized by leading international design institutions and represents a contemporary exploration of balance, form, and emotional presence.
The object transcends the traditional classification of furniture and positions itself as a functional sculpture intended for both spatial dialogue and human interaction.
Through its sculptural silhouette and restrained use of materials, Grace reflects a commitment to timeless design and cultural relevance.
The object has a 3D-printed structure.
The material used is called Tusk SolidGrey3000, and it is the world's first stereolithography material that combines a high degree of stiffness with high impact resistance, exclusively available from Materialise NV.
High-quality foam has been applied to the exterior of the design for extra comfort.
The fabric used for the manual upholstery is Tonus 4, color 0610, from Kvadrat due to its flexibility and durability.
The work is formally recognized by the most respected design institutes in Europe, thereby earning a place in the canon of contemporary collectible design.
It has been awarded the iF Design Award, the Gold A’ Design Award, the Silver International Design Award, and the European Product Design Award, which confirms its status in the international contemporary design scene.
Unlike limited editions, this work exists as a single, irreplaceable, unique object.
There are no reproductions, editions, or variations, and these will not be produced either.
Its value is therefore determined not only by the quality of the design, but also by its permanent scarcity.
Owning this piece means not only owning a truly unique design object, but also stewarding a unique moment in contemporary design history.
