The author is the owner of the Comtoise Uhren Museum Düsseldorf, having bought his first timepieces as a student, and has grown into a collector and authority on Comtoise clocks. His collection is well worth seeing.
Book 1 provides a thorough treatment, using short texts accompanying numerous color photographs, of all common and rare Comtoise clocks from the late 16th century to the 20th century.
All types of timepieces are covered. Book 2 deals with the development history, the technology, the artisanal Comtoise manufacture, the small home workers, up to the mechanical production of Comtoises in the 19th century. Finally, the ‘Mariages’ clock is composed of several timepieces, the forgeries, etc. etc. are discussed.
