Jeanne-Françoise Julie Adélaïde Récamier (1777 – 1849), better known as Madame Récamier, was a famous French social figure of the 18th and 19th centuries. She was known for her beauty, style, and influence in the Parisian salons and was the wife of the wealthy banker Jacques-Rose Récamier.
The Parisian salon attracted intellectuals, artists, and politicians.
It is often associated with art and literature, with the graceful and classic style of the Empire era.
De récamier (a chaise longue on which she was often depicted) is even dedicated to her.
It was immortalized by several artists, including the famous painter Jacques-Louis David and the sculptor Joseph Chinard.
