Set of 3 Vintage Traditional Japanese Yanagiba Knives – Sakai Made, Hand-Forged
Offered here is a set of three vintage Japanese Yanagiba knives, all traditionally crafted in Sakai, Japan—an internationally renowned center of professional Japanese knife-making.
Each knife is signed by its maker, representing authentic Sakai craftsmanship and traditional hand-forged production.
■ Knife Details (from left to right)
Sakai Takayuki – Jōsaku (堺孝行 上作)
The blade bears the maker’s inscription, with what appears to be the same marking on the reverse side.
A classic Sakai-style Yanagiba, reflecting refined traditional workmanship.
Sakai Iccho (堺一兆)
Clearly signed blade with a traditional Yanagiba profile.
The ferrule area retains its original label reading:
“Premium Traditional Craft / Hon-Tanren (fully hand-forged) / Sakai forged blade.”
Additionally, the wooden handle bears a second original label stating:
“Secret traditional hand-finished craftsmanship.”
These labels strongly emphasize the knife’s high-grade positioning and its identity as an authentic, traditionally forged Sakai blade.
Sakai Masashi – saku (堺正志作)
